Read this article about yakuake, great tool with nice themes and a hot key
Hey there Ever wondered how those Linux guys have such cool desktops with transparent Bash shells, does it bother you that you have to move your mouse to the bash shell and call it by pointing it while using your favourite Distro ? Then read on... Well it is a fact that you can not handle your Linux laptop,desktop PC or server without having to type in a couple of commands every once in a while "That is loads of commands for me". The thing that bothers me most about that is that I am browsing firefox and I want to try something I have to point to my shell and execute the command then I have I have to point back to FF to continue reading etc etc. There is one great tool around that solves this problem, a command line shell called yakuake http://yakuake.uv.ro/ . The greatest feature of this tools probably the shortcut key F12, you want the shell press F12, type in what ever commands you need or monitor your processes, press F12 again and it is gone. You can even set it to disappear when it looses focus. So press F12 it appears, press on Firefox it disappears. Tabbing is supported too ! As if this is not enough you can set a lot of visual aspects of the program, transparency, background colors, width, height and others. To install it on (K)ubuntu //if you decide to install on Ubuntu it will also install some KDE libs
